(ANCHORAGE, AK) — Today, Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorsed Independent Alyse Galvin for the Congressional District of Alaska-At Large. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational and electoral activity, including voter education, grassroots organizing, and legislative advocacy.

“The Trump-Pence administration is working to undermine our basic rights and freedoms, putting all of us at risk,” said Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, “Alyse Galvin will be a champion for sexual and reproductive health and rights in Congress. We’re proud to endorse her and look forward to helping her win in November.”

“I have seen firsthand the positive impacts of Planned Parenthood in Alaskan communities. From Anchorage to Fairbanks to Juneau to Soldotna, Planned Parenthood health centers provide vital services, such as cancer screenings, well-woman  visits, vaccinations, and more,” Alyse Galvin said. “In Congress, I will work tooth and nail to ensure that all Americans have full access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and will strongly oppose efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.”

Alyse Galvin is a mom, a lifelong Alaskan, a community leader, and a former small business owner. A tireless advocate for education, she spent the last five years as a leader of Great Alaska Schools organizing parents, students, educators, and community leaders to protect public schools from massive budget cuts. In 2017, she led statewide opposition to the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as U.S. Secretary of Education.

Alyse Galvin is an Independent and the Alaska Democratic Party’s nominee for U.S. Congress. She will face Rep. Don Young in the general election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
