Alyse Galvin Endorsed by UNITE HERE Local 878

(ANCHORAGE, AK) — Today, UNITE HERE Local 878 endorsed Independent Alyse Galvin for the Congressional District of Alaska-At Large. UNITE HERE Local 878 is a labor union that represents working Alaskans in the hotel, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, distribution, laundry, transportation, and airport industries.
“It is my pleasure to announce that Alyse Galvin has the full endorsement and support of UNITE HERE Local 878 in her bid for Congress for the State of Alaska,” said Marvin Jones, President of UNITE HERE Local 878. “We need a new independent voice who will stand for workers in Alaska. In addition to UNITE HERE Local 878, other labor unions that have endorsed Alyse Galvin for Congress include: the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; the National Education Association, Alaska; the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades; United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1496; and the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots.
Alyse Galvin is a mom of four children, a third-generation Alaskan, a community leader, public education advocate, and a former small business owner. A tireless advocate for education, she spent the last five years as a leader of Great Alaska Schools organizing parents, students, educators, and community leaders to protect public schools from massive budget cuts. In 2017, she led statewide opposition to the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as U.S. Secretary of Education.
Alyse Galvin is an Independent and the Alaska Democratic Party’s nominee for U.S. Congress. She will face Rep. Don Young in the general election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
