(ANCHORAGE, AK) -- Today, The Alaska Center endorsed Independent Alyse Galvin for Congress in the Alaska Democratic Primary. The Alaska Center is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to protecting our state’s wild salmon, clean air and water, and a strong democracy.
“This endorsement is so meaningful to me because The Alaska Center is known for its unwavering advocacy for federal investments in clean renewable energy and empowering all people to have a say in what goes on in our communities and our government,” Alyse Galvin said. “We will take this fight all the way to Congress and I am so grateful to have the backing of The Alaska Center and its grassroots force of engaged Alaskans.”
“We know Alyse shares our values on issues like climate change, energy efficiency, healthy fisheries, and an engaged democracy, “said Polly Carr, Executive Director of The Alaska Center. “More importantly, we believe that Alyse is a true grassroots collaborator and will work with us and other Alaskans to solve our toughest problems. She is out working hard, traveling across Alaska to listen and hear the concerns of thousands of voters. This is something we know she will continue to do if we elect her as our next Congresswoman.”
Alyse Galvin is a mom, a lifelong Alaskan, a community leader, and a former small business owner. A tireless advocate for education, she spent the last five years as a leader of Great Alaska Schools organizing parents, students, educators, and community leaders to protect public schools from massive budget cuts. In 2017, she led statewide opposition to the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as U.S. Secretary of Education.
The Alaska Democratic Primary is Tuesday, August 21, 2018. The winner of the primary will face incumbent Rep. Don Young in the general election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
