Alyse Galvin Completes Her First Day of 40 Districts in 4 Days #40in4
November 2nd, 2018
ANCHORAGE, AK -- Alyse Galvin, an Independent candidate for U.S. Congress, spent today traveling throughout Anchorage via the Alyse Galvin Campaign RV and calling into remote community radio shows to connect, listen, and learn from Alaskans. This was the first day of a 4-day ambitious plan to connect with Alaskans in 40 districts in the next 4 days to get out the vote (GOTV) before election day. #40in4
While driving the Alyse Galvin Campaign RV to breakfast and to the first district on her list, Galvin said: “this campaign has always been about the people. I’m here, I’m listening, and I’m learning from the people of Alaska to understand who I represent and how we’re going to solve the problems we face as Alaskans when I go to Washington.”
An independent poll released yesterday from Ivan Moore of Alaska Survey Research finds Independent Alyse Galvin for Congress one point ahead of Rep. Don Young, with Galvin at 49 percent and Young at 48 percent, with three percent of respondents still undecided.
In response to the recent polling results, Alyse Galvin said: “the recent polling shows that our momentum is only growing stronger. Our race is ahead of Don Young’s by one percentage point. But we all know that the proof is in the pudding. The only poll results that matter will come out on Election Day. That’s why we’ve built our movement and it shows in our fundraising, our volunteer base, and our polling. And we’re not stopping,” Alyse said. “That’s why we’re touching base with all 40 state house districts in the next 4 days to earn your vote!”
Campaign events will primarily take place in Fairbanks on Saturday, in Juneau on Sunday, and back in Anchorage on Monday. A detailed agenda is attached. Press are invited to all aspects of our 40 districts in 4 days, as well as travel to/from listed events within the Alyse Galvin Campaign RV, when available. For more information or to join us for any of these events, please connect with Kati Ward, Alyse Galvin’s Press Secretary.
A leader of the grassroots organization Great Alaska Schools, Galvin has mounted a serious challenge to the incumbent. She has an energized volunteer base of more than 1,120 Alaskans. Galvin won the Alaska Democratic Primary with 54% of the vote against three other candidates, and has raised over a million dollars without a single cent from corporate PACs. Her campaign has hosted town hall style meet-and-greets all across Alaska, from Kotzebue to Kodiak, Fairbanks to Nome.
Her message is clear: I’m listening, I’m showing up, and can’t wait to serve all Alaskans. Don Young, unfortunately, isn’t anymore.
Alyse Galvin is a mom, a third-generation Alaskan, a community leader, and a former small business owner. A tireless advocate for education, she spent the last five years as a leader of Great Alaska Schools organizing parents, students, educators, and community members to protect public schools from massive budget cuts. In 2017, she led statewide opposition to the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as U.S. Secretary of Education.
Alyse Galvin is an Independent and the Alaska Democratic Party’s nominee for U.S. Congress. Galvin will face Rep. Don Young in the general election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
